Chapter 16: No Time
Chapter Sixteen: No Time
As Ye Fusheng's last finger came down.
"Pfft…"
Wang Zhenshan spat up a mouthful of blood without any warning. He had been sitting on the sofa, but after the blood erupted from his mouth, his entire body went limp and crashed to the floor, falling unconscious.
This sight left everyone utterly dumbstruck!
Immediately after, everyone panicked.
Not even Feng Bainian and Gu Ziqi were spared.
"Commander Wang!"
"Uncle Wang!"
"Quick, call an ambulance!"
In an instant, the reception hall erupted into pandemonium. One had to understand — Wang Zhenshan was the province's War Department Commander; should anything befall him and ignite a mutiny within the War Department, the consequences would be unthinkable.
"Useless. By the time the ambulance gets here, they'll already be cold." Ye Fusheng said flatly.
Swoosh!
Everyone turned to look at Ye Fusheng at the same time, suddenly recalling that it was he who had seen through Wang Zhenshan.
"Are you a doctor?" someone demanded.
"Guess?"
"Can you save Commander Wang?" another voice called out.
"Guess?"
"I command you—save Commander Wang at once!" The City Lord of Tianhai flew into a rage. This was his own territory; he could not allow Wang Zhenshan to come to harm.
"You're nothing!" Ye Fusheng cursed bluntly. He was merely the lord of Tianhai City—the troublemakers locked up in Dragon-Suppressing Prison had been several times stronger than him, and even the straggling lackeys those men had left behind were far above him.
"Fusheng." Gu Ziqi finally came back to her senses, her eyes brimming with desperate pleading. "Can you save Uncle Wang? Please — I'm begging you."
"Uncle Wang was once my grandfather's guard. He went to the battlefield too, defending our home and country, and rendered distinguished service. Please, save him."
She held Wang Zhenshan in warm regard. When she was a child, her grandfather had worried about the dangers of her walking to school, and it was often Wang Zhenshan who escorted her.
"No wonder."
Ye Fusheng muttered to himself. His impression of Gu Ziqi was quite good—and beyond that, the man had once protected this country. He stepped forward, raised his hand, and struck Wang Zhenshan's body a full several dozen times in rapid succession.
"Pfft!"
Wang Zhenshan spat out another mouthful of blood.
The others, seeing this, assumed it was even more serious and immediately roared.
"How dare you lay a hand on Commander Wang — I'll cut you down!"
"Someone, seize him at once!"
For a moment, the atmosphere crackled with tension, swords half-drawn and bows at full stretch.
"Stop!"
Just then, Wang Zhenshan slowly opened his eyes and said with difficulty: "Little… Mr. Ye wasn't attacking me — he was saving me."
"Just now, I was choked by a mouthful of blood and couldn't breathe. It was only after he tapped a few points that the blood finally came out."
Only then did everyone understand, and they all turned to look at Ye Fusheng with apologetic expressions.
A strange light bloomed in Gu Ziqi's eyes, her heart surging with excitement — she had found a treasure!
He actually knows medicine too!
Excitedly, she said, "Uncle Wang, can you support Ye Fusheng now?"
Wang Zhenshan's weathered face flushed red. He had just had his life saved, after all, so it would be poor form to object again—yet to voice his agreement outright would make him seem utterly mercenary.
Steeling himself, he asked, "Mr. Ye, may I ask — how much longer do I have to live?"
The others looked over as well, eyes gleaming with keen interest—everyone wanted to know the lifespan!
Moreover, this guy is truly extraordinary.
"No idea!" Ye Fusheng replied curtly, then turned to Gu Ziqi: "Can we go now? There's something I need to say to you."
Wang Zhenshan's face turned as red as a monkey's backside, choked completely speechless.
Gu Ziqi also found it rather awkward, yet all the more impressed — had he been so intimidated by Uncle Wang and Uncle Feng that he lost his tongue, then she would have truly chosen the wrong person.
Venturing tentatively, "Don't let us hold you up — shall the two of us head out first?"
"Wait!"
Feng Bonian, who had kept his silence all this while, finally spoke. He had held his tongue earlier, content to watch and wait — and to his surprise, Ye Fusheng truly did have some real skill.
Only then did the others remember that Ye Fusheng had also said Feng Bonian would be better off dead!
Feng Bainian slowly rose to his feet: "I'll leave with you. Let's find somewhere else to talk."
"No need to come along — I don't have time to chat."
