Chapter 20 Get Out
Chapter Twenty: Get Out
The next day.
Ye Fusheng woke up, finished washing and getting ready, then headed downstairs.
She found Gu Ziqi in the kitchen, apron tied around her waist, a lavish breakfast already spread across the dining table.
Gu Ziqi heard the sound and was the first to sit down. "You're awake? Hurry up and eat breakfast—you'll need your strength to treat your sister's illness. I think I'm running a fever again."
Ye Fusheng's face darkened with exasperation, and he cursed the old bastard inwardly for being utterly inhuman — why on earth had he decreed that, without his permission, one must never lose their primordial yang?
He sat down across from her and said, "Let's not eat yet — I have something to say!"
Breaking off this engagement couldn't wait—there were still six more fiancées after this one. He needed to hurry back to the prison and wait for the old man. In other words, without seeing him, there was nothing he could do, even if Gu Ziqi were standing right in front of him.
"Mm!"
Gu Ziqi let out a soft whimper and sat up primly, her large, alluring eyes blinking slowly as she looked on.
Ye Fusheng met her gaze, and suddenly... found himself at a loss for words. Come to think of it, having a wife like her didn't seem so bad after all.
Shifting tactics, she probed carefully: "Gu… Gu-jie, I've heard that children from great families all have betrothal agreements. You must have a fiancé too, right?"
See how she treats you.
Gu Ziqi hadn't expected him to ask such a question. Her expression flickered with a trace of unease, but she quickly composed herself.
She laughed and said: "That's right, but I don't want to marry him. Don't be afraid, little brother — my heart already belongs to you. And even if I do end up marrying him someday, we can still be together in secret, can't we?"
"Let's cuckold him together!"
Ye Fusheng was left utterly speechless — make me put the label on my own head?
She probed again: "That's not what I meant. What I'm asking is — will you actually marry your fiancé? The kind where, after the wedding, you don't go behind your husband's back!"
If only she didn't cheat on her husband, she'd actually be a pretty decent woman — good looks, a great figure, and she can cook.
Having her would work too.
"No!"
Gu Ziqi was utterly resolute: "Little brother, you have to believe me — in my heart, there is only you, and there is no room for anyone else. Not even my husband could ever take your place."
After saying that, she bit her lip again.
Ye Fusheng was utterly speechless. What on earth was any of this even about? Why not just lay all the cards on the table?
After giving it some thought, she decided to stop beating around the bush. She took out the marriage contract — marry or don't marry; if not, she'd find the next one.
But just then.
The door was suddenly flung open.
A woman in business attire and high heels walked in. Upon seeing Ye Fusheng, undisguised contempt flashed in her eyes.
Standing before the dining table: "Miss, the company's registration documents and office address have been secured — we can start work whenever you're ready!"
She stood around 1.73 meters tall, beautiful enough by any measure, though she still fell a little short compared to Gu Ziqi.
Gu Ziqi's expression turned more serious: "Hand all the documents to Mr. Ye—he knows how to handle them. Fusheng, her name is Zhang Shuang; she was my secretary before, and starting now she's yours. Anything you need done, you can leave it to her."
Making Ye Fusheng a partner was naturally not merely empty talk — there was real work to be done.
"I don't know the first thing about business." It was only then that Ye Fusheng remembered he had agreed to become a partner. He said with an awkward laugh: "The only reason I agreed yesterday was because I didn't want to turn you down in public."
"You'd better find someone else."
I learned many things from my master — arcane divination, feng shui and the Eight Trigrams, medical texts and martial arts — yet business was the one thing he never taught me, and truly, I have no idea how it works.
"Heh, at least you know your place!"
Zhang Shuang let out a cold laugh, no longer bothering to hide her disdain. "Ye Fusheng, I'd advise you to do yourself a favor and get lost. Keep hanging around the young miss, and when you finally fall, the drop will kill you."
She had also looked into Ye Fusheng's background—remarkably simple, consisting of nothing but time served in prison.
How could someone like this be worthy of standing by Miss's side?
"Zhang Shuang!" Gu Ziqi snapped.
"Miss." Zhang Shuang showed no fear, but spoke with an aggrieved air: "Do you know what people across Tianhai City are saying about you? That you have poor judgment in employing people, poor judgment in reading people — and some are even saying you have eyes but cannot see!"
"He's just a criminal — how could he possibly be worth your investment?"
"Moreover, what becomes of you in Tianhai will determine the rest of your life — and more than that……"
"Shut up!" Gu Ziqi cut him off, her expression stormy with anger. "I know better than you how to use people. I believe Fusheng is a rising star, a dark horse — he will never let me down!"
"From this day forward, I don't want to hear a single word against him from your lips — understood?"
Yunding Tiangong was Cai Chongyang's property, and Cai Chongyang was celebrated as the Emperor of Self-Made Men. Others might not know him well, but Gu Ziqi knew him intimately — he would never lend this villa to anyone who wasn't close to him. The fact that Ye Fusheng was able to come here meant Cai Chongyang shared a very special bond with him, and he would surely teach him how to do business.
"Understood." Zhang Shuang dared not resist any further, and dutifully handed the documents over to Ye Fusheng: "Mr. Ye, these are all the documents. Please take a look and see if there are any issues."
Ye Fusheng looked slightly beside himself—he had absolutely no head for business, though his methods were passable enough…
"Ye Fusheng, you need to believe in yourself."
Gu Ziqi's gaze was filled with reverence: "I believe that one day you will shine so brilliantly that everyone will look up to you—am I right?"
Ye Fusheng caught her gaze, gave a nod, and said confidently, "Of course!"
After the meal.
Gu Ziqi said she had matters to attend to and remained behind at the Cloud Summit Heavenly Palace.
Ye Fusheng, meanwhile, had come to Tongtian Tower with Zhang Shuang.
Tianhai's most prominent companies all had their offices here.
The car pulled to a stop at the entrance of the building.
"Mr. Ye, please head to the office first. I'll go park the car — no need to wait for me." Zhang Shuang said respectfully.
"Fine." Ye Fusheng stepped out of the car.
His mind was a muddle, with no idea whatsoever how to conduct business — he could only act on others' behalf and faithfully carry out what had been entrusted to him.
Zhang Shuang watched him walk away, the corners of her mouth pulling down as she muttered to herself: "Little punk, I'd like to see what you're made of! The moment you step through that door, the first trial begins!"
"Stop!"
The security guard gripped a rubber baton, his face wearing a smug sneer. "This is Tongtian Tower. No loiterers allowed near the premises—back up ten meters immediately, or I'll educate you with this baton!"
The security guard knew of Ye Fusheng, and knew even better what had happened the night before. He cried out that fate was monstrously unjust — if even a criminal could become a business partner, then why not him!
Ye Fusheng smiled and replied, "I'm going into the building for work — the Gu firm on the thirty-third floor. Just rented it."
"Heh…"
The security guard held a rubber baton, slapping it against the palm of his other hand, and sneered: "The Gu family? Oh, I know the Gu family — a company the Gu clan from Dijing just set up here in Tianhai, with Miss Gu Ziqi as the chairman."
"But you? Go piss on the ground and take a good look at yourself — what kind of person do you think you are, to deserve a job at the Gu family's company?"
"Get lost, or don't blame me for not holding back!"
Bang!
The security guard had barely finished speaking.
Ye Fusheng sent him flying with a single kick, his voice cold as ice: "You're just a security guard — who do you think you are, a guardian of the South Heavenly Gate? I told you to man the door, not block it, you stupid mutt!"
He strode inside with long, swift steps.
"Ugh…" In the distance, Zhang Shuang watched with jaw agape, never in a million years expecting him to force his way in by such a crude and brutish method. She bit down hard.
He immediately parked the car and came upstairs.
Without knocking, he stormed straight into the general manager's office and erupted: "Ye Fusheng, I heard you just beat up a security guard? Do you have any idea what your place is?"
"You're a boss, not some criminal — how could you go around hitting people!"
Ye Fusheng leaned back in his office chair and said coolly: "Do you know your place? Who is the boss here? First offense of disrespect — I'll give you a warning. Second offense — half your salary docked. Third offense — you're fired on the spot!"
I may not know how to run a business, but I've picked up a thing or two — docking wages and firing people, those I can manage.
"You!"
Zhang Shuang's eyes were nearly splitting with rage. Silently cursing the triumph of petty men, he swallowed his fury and said, "Mr. Ye, when I came up just now, I heard that people from the building's security department are furious — they're on their way to demand an explanation from you!"
"If you cannot resolve this properly, I will have the young miss dismiss you!"
Tap, tap, tap.
A flurry of heavy footsteps came from beyond the door, and a group of people in security uniforms burst inside.
The head of the security team bellowed, "Where's Ye Fusheng? Get the hell out here!"
